Mid-month and looking forward to November!

It's mid-month, between issues.  The weather is gorgeous in New Mexico and it is beautiful October but I am moving toward the November issue.  We are very excited for the November cover feature - an exclusive interview with Los Lonely Boys! Also coming in November is the first annual Santa Fe Fashion Week, curious to see how that turns out!  I won't give any more away just yet and I'd better get back to work!

September 2012 Issue is Online Now!

Greetings and welcome to the September issue of Southwest Flair Magazine. We are back after a much needed summer hiatus. I just published my first book and I needed to put in a little time on it. It is not Southwest-related, it is a Medieval Women’s Dictionary. We are now geared up and ready for fall! Who else is ready for fall?

Kicking off the fall season, we have several pieces on Fashion’s Night Out throughout not only the southwest but all across the country. We have some designers and events from Couture Fashion Week in New York. Our feature this month is top barrel-racer, horse trainer and model, Angie Meadors. Check out the article to read about Angie’s newest adventure and why she’s Cowgirl Tuff!
Southwest Flair is pleased to announce its new media partnership with the upcoming first annual Santa Fe Fashion Week to be held at Buffalo Thunder, near Santa Fe, in early November. More on that to come as the dates get closer.

Beauty rocks in Texas, so find out why. Travel this month is to Pagosa Springs or you may want to walk the spirit path in Santa Fe. In cuisine we ave grilled southwest chicken sandwiches just in time for chile season; or try some brews and brats for upcoming Oktoberfest.

Be sure to visit the Arts section for great music, books and events. And don’t forget, September is national yoga month and yoga studies all across the country are offering one free week of yoga classes so take advantage of this exceptional opportunity and get started on your yoga. Check the article for more info and events the check our article on setting up your own practice area.

The next two months look to be very exciting indeed. Our October cover feature will be the talented Ana Egge and coming in November, in addition to Santa Fe Fashion week, Los Lonely Boys and an exclusive interview!

Looking forward to bring you a fantastic fall line-up of great fashions, travel, events, food, music and art from all over the Southwest!

Thanks for stopping by!

New Song Release - Thought You'd Always Be Right There

Greetings!

If you are following along with any of my side projects, be sure to catch my first song release, Thought You'd Always Be Right There.

On Easter Sunday I released my first song, Thought You’d Always Be Right There. It is a song about the loss of my mother, whom I lost as an infant, and one I have been working on about four years. It was important to me to release it on Easter in honor of my mother as this is the fiftieth anniversary year of her passing (oops giving away my age there).

It is within the country genre and is on acoustic guitar. The release is really just a first draft and I will continue to improve on it and I am working on a music video for the song as well. It was a learning experience and has given me a starting point and taken me a step further toward its completion. I tried to give it a comforting lullaby-feel. Most of the song was written by the end of 2007 but I just couldn’t get the last verse. Then when my daughter left home for the Air Force the following year, it came to me and I understood, as you will when you hear the song. It has indeed been a labor of love and an
extraordinary healing experience for me.

I hope that you enjoy Thought You'd Always Be Right There. Copyright 2012 Thirdroad Publishing.

April 2012 Issue online now! Exclusive Interview with Robert Mirabal!

April 2012

Spring greetings and welcome to the April 2012 issue of Southwest Flair Magazine online. The weather is beautiful here in the sunny southwest and it’s the perfect time for getting out and about to enjoy the many reasons we all love this amazing region of the U.S.

It is an honor this month to bring to you a special cover feature and exclusive interview with Taos Pueblo’s two-time GRAMMY-award winner Robert Mirabal. Join us as we visit with Mirabal for an in-depth look at the man, his passions and inspirations in Robert Mirabal Speaks: On Music, On Family, On the Earth.

And while we’re in Taos, let’s stop by Artemisia Gallery, Artwear and southwest fashions you will love from owner and designer Annette Randell and the other prominent artists and designers carried in her gallery shop. We’re also taking a look this month at a few famed brands and designers who have a hint of "southwest flair" in their 2012 spring and summer collections. Whether it be Moroccan-inspired or a bit of Aztec geometrics, these pieces have just what we want to update our wardrobes this season. In other areas of fashion, attend a Celebrity Fashion event in Dallas and visit the Ellman Fashion Design Gallery at the Phoenix Art Museum for a timely look at fashions inspired by the Sea from Prada to contemporary couture as recent as Spring 2012 by designers such as Karl Lagerfeld.

Getting ready for summer? Check out the review on Bare Escentuals for uplifting info on their mineral make-up, and if that’s not quite "uplifting" enough, learn about the latest ultra-sound techniques as new alternatives to face-lifts.

Travel this month hits the renowned Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale for Easter eats and relaxation, walking tours in Santa Fe and a look at a golfing fund-raiser in Goodyear, Arizona, giving hearing-impaired children a voice. All stops you won’t want to miss!

More Easter goodies in our cuisine section, ten yoga tips to get you through your day, an update from Spa Lamar, and lots of events and news in the arts. Live outdoor concerts, food and shopping at el Pedregal, Alison Krauss in concert, art showings, a new film about wildlife, and a look a Rez Life, the new book from novelist David Treuer.

Too much to list from this month’s exciting issue!

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy your April in the southwest!
