Greetings and welcome to the March 2012 issue of Southwest Flair Magazine online.

Spring is just around the corner and there are lots of exciting southwest events coming up to celebrate! Two major fashions weeks are happening this month: Aspen Fashion Week and Fashion Week El Paseo in Palm Springs (be sure to check out celebrity designer Mark Zunino who has dressed everyone from Liz Taylor to Angelina Jolie). Trunk shows and MIM Rocks Fashion in Phoenix are all coming up as well and you won’t want to miss these events.

Travel this month includes yoga vacations in New Mexico and a look at the green side of Scottsdale, two destinations that can’t go wrong!

New Mexico is cookin’ this month with the Fiery Foods Festival and New Mexico Restaurant Weeks happening all month long, a different city each week, so check the map and make your reservations to hit the trail for some outstanding New Mexico cuisine from the top of the state to the bottom.

Lots of news in the arts this month from galleries to book reviews and our EXCLUSIVE cover feature with the multi-talented Houston Singer/songwriter and jewelry designer, Monica Matocha. Catch the article and our interview with Monica, then take a listen to her latest single, Imposter.

Wellness Week is coming this month and we have a special message from actress Mariel Hemingway on how you can get involved and the steps to take to a healthier lifestyle. Read the article and take the pledge! Plus, a complete list of participating spas and wellness centers in the southwest! In celebration of WellnessWeek, we have two yoga features this month sure to set you up and on the path to good health.

I hope you enjoy this month’s issue, it’s been a labor of love.

From the Editor - 2012

Greetings! The January 2012 issue is now online!

2012 brings a new look to Southwest Flair. We will have a layout that reflects the fresh, clean look and feel of a print magazine rather than just a standard web layout. Articles and back issues will be catagorized by both date and subject, making it easier than ever to find what you are looking for and much more! Suggestions for similar articles will also appear for assistance in guiding you to other articles of interest that you won't want to miss.

There is now an option to leave a comment below each article allowing you to interact with our team, ask a question or share your ideas. There will be "like" and "share" buttons so that you may easily let you your Facebook Friends in on all the Southwest news that you enjoy.

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we make this transition but everything will remain in its place until it is complete so that you will not miss a single bit of content. I am very excited to take this step forward with Southwest Flair and look forward to the continued opportunity to bring you fashionable and stylish updates so that you may continue to add a little southwest flair to your life.

Holiday/Christmas Gift Idea - Stocking Stuffer: SpaGlo Mineral Brights Eyeshadow Kit- Aztec Summer

Our top two most popular blogs this year were on mineral makeup and truquoise eye-shadow, so for today's holiday gift idea, our Southwest Santa suggests SpaGlo Mineral Brights Eyeshadow Kit in Aztec Summer.  Three naturally shimmering mineral eye-shadows in the softly muted shades of the southwest.

The Mineral Brights for Eyes kit contains 3 loose mineral eyeshadow colors that work together to create beautiful, delicate shading for warm based skintones. It contains Pale Aqua, Luscious Peach and Smoky Turquois. Included is a wet/dry application brush made out of 100% natural hair bristles for perfect application every time plus expert tips on application. Each eyeshadow color is packed in a 3 gram jar. Plus a pretty 5" x 6" zippered cosmetic bag to hold it all together.

The perfect stocking stuffer!  Available Online.

Holiday/Christmas Gift Idea - For the Ski-Lover On Your List

Maybe this is her first time out on the slopes and she's not sure what to wear. Maybe she's been skiing a while but hasn't looked into any new seasonal items yet. Maybe she just wants something new to wear in cold weather or to the chalet. Nothing can ruin her ski day faster than being inappropriately dressed, or under dressed! Been there, done that. So be sure when she hits the slopes, she is ready for the weather.

Obermeyer has a reputation for making beautiful, high performance ski clothing for women and this new 2012 jacket is just what she needs to kick start the new ski season.

Obermeyer Women's Coco Ski Jacket has an extremely high waterproof/breathable rating to keep her dry in the gnarliest of storms and uses high quality, lightweight Thinsulate insulation to keep her warm. Fully seam-sealed and designed with waterproof zippers, a removable hood, a snow skirt and interior cuffs with thumbholes, this winter jacket will seal out the elements so she can focus on the line in front of her. Articulated sleeves and interior stretch panels achieve a streamlined fit that eliminates unnecessary bulk. With pockets sized and placed perfectly to anticipate her every need, the Obermeyer Coco Ski Jacket for women is a coat that will keep her out on the mountain long since the fair weather skiers have gone home; it'll also get her noticed in the mid-mountain chalet when she stops for a hot cider break.   Available Online.
